Nocton Festival 2012

The following message has just been received:

"Hello Everyone

We hope you have all recovered from the fabulous Jubilee celebrations.  Firstly, a big ‘thank you’ to you all for supporting the village events.  We hope you have been able to view the website and/or facebook pages, where we have been able to upload the countless photographs of Monday 4th June.

We move on to the next 2 events in our calendar, and wish to tell you about the Nocton Flower Festival weekend and Nocton Art Group’s Exhibition.

All Saints Church Flower Festival takes place on the weekend of Friday 29th June- Sunday 1st July 2012.

So much planning and organisation has gone into this event and even if you don't normally attend Church, please pop along just to see the amazing displays of flowers re-telling the history of our beautiful village in 1862.

Using White's 1872 Directory for information on the occupations of the people who lived in the village at this time, you will be taken back to the "Village Shop", "The Shoemaker", "The Gamekeeper" and "The Stonemason" to name a few. There will also be displays depicting Nocton's associations with the Royal Ripon Lodge and the Rev Edward Wilson.

Teas and refreshments will be available throughout the opening times and Saturday evening sees a fabulous concert by Lincoln Minster Chamber Choir (see yesterday's blog for further details).

Please come along, have a look, maybe enjoy a piece of cake and if you are free on Saturday evening, why not spend the time listening to the beautiful Lincoln Minster Chamber Choir in the lovely surroundings of our decorated church.

Another event coinciding with the Flower Festival, is Nocton Art Group’s Exhibition. This will take place in the Village Hall over the same weekend. The opening times will be:

Saturday, 30th June 10.00 am - 5.00 pm
Sunday, 1st July 10.00 am - 5.00 pm

Everyone is welcome and it is FREE to get in!  Come along and see for yourself, the talent we have here in Nocton – on our own doorstep!  Perhaps you may even be persuaded to purchase a picture, or indeed commission a unique piece of art for yourself.  Whatever you decide, this is your opportunity to view some excellent art work; the Group being expertly led by Mr Cliff Baxendale – Nocton’s ‘resident artist’.

So, we are sure you will agree, 2 wonderful events – unique to Nocton, that can be attended by just walking along Main Street and down The Green (and vice versa!)  - and all for FREE!  It may be a good idea, if you intend to travel by car, to use the car park at the Village Hall, so as not to choke up the entrances to the Church too much.

As usual, if you no longer wish to receive our updates, just let us know by return email.  See you over that weekend ...

Best wishes

Nocton Festival 2012"
