Alert – External Domestic mail boxes

Following a recent incident in the county, I would like to make owners of external mail boxes aware that fraudsters may target mail boxes that are located at the end of driveways to access post inside.

If you suffer any damage to an external mail box, please ensure that you report it so we can monitor cases across the county.

Type of fraud

This is where a fraudster will apply for credit cards that are then posted to your address; they will then force open the mail box to gain access to the credit cards when they are delivered.  Normally the member of the public will not know ‘they’ have applied for the card till the fraudster starts using the cards for purchases and the invoices arrive.

Please be aware.
