Neighbourhood Watch

Nocton Neighbourhood Watch

Thursday 12th December 2012 saw the first Nocton Neighbourhood Watch (NNW) coordinators meeting in Nocton Social Club with nine area coordinators present and apologies received from two further volunteers.  An exceptional turnout, of eager supporters plus one householder who had been sent along by his wife, no names Cliff!

We still need volunteers to cover part of Wellhead Lane, Parklands Avenue and Lincoln Road.  If you are interested, give me a call.

Nocton now has an enthusiastic team to become the eyes and ears for the village and to offer assistance where necessary.  I have said previously that NNW is not just about passing on information, it's about helping each other and our community.   We are all committed to a safe and friendly environment.  Something which everyone echoed.

The principle is that these individuals are willing to lend a hand and pass on your concerns to those who need to know.  However, you must remember that they cannot be everywhere at all times and they have volunteered for this role.  They are not an extension to law enforcement.  If you see something which you believe is suspicious, you should report your concerns to 101 and provide as much information as possible to assist the local police team.  Of course, if it's urgent, you should still ring 999.

We are assured by our local police team that they DO want to hear of your suspicions, because that piece of information might just be the one to complete the jigsaw.

Again, please remember that with these dark nights, we should take particular care with our security, keep doors locked and valuables out of sight.  Don't make it easy for the thief. If you haven't already done so, register with www.lincolnshireneighbourhoodwatch.co.uk and www.lincsalert.co.uk for up to date information.

Please have a very merry, safe and secure Christmas.
