Parish Council Report

Report of the Extra-Ordinary Parish Council Meeting held on 29 November 2017 at 6.00pm

Planning Application
An additional Meeting was held this month to consider the Parish Council’s response to the re submission of planning permission, formerly 27 Steamer Point Road.

The meeting was well attended and Councillor Kaye put forward a suggested response to this latest application.  The Parish Council considered that in essence, and apart from some re-design of the proposed dwelling, all of the original reasons for objecting to this application still exist.  It was unanimously agreed, therefore, that Parish Council maintain its objection to the development of this particular site.

The meeting also enabled members of the public to let the Parish Council know how annoyed and upset they were over the number and nature of the planning applications being made in Nocton particularly since it is recognised in the emerging Local Plan that the village has significantly exceeded its growth target for new housing.

The deadline for comments to this latest application (16/1413/FUL) is Tuesday, 6 December and it will come before the Planning Committee at NKDC on 20 December (a date for your diary).  A large number of residents attended the last meeting and it is hoped that at least this number or even more will attend on the 20th to support the rejection of this application.

Other matters
It was agreed to make no comment on the LEA’s application for the retention of the two mobile classrooms at Nocton County Primary School for a further five years.

A new coat of stain is to be applied to the village planters.  The summer herbaceous plants have been cut back and pansies planted for a splash of winter colour.

It was noted that the Village Hall Management Committee’s Christmas Fair had been a great success with a good attendance. Its next event is a “Bangers and Mash” Lunch for just £5.00 on Friday 9 December.  A chance to relax and chat!

And finally! Secure, damp and vermin free storage for about 6 – 8 months is sought for items from the Village Hall when it is demolished.  If you know of anywhere that is suitable, preferably at a peppercorn rate (!) then please let the Clerk, one of the Parish Councillors, the VHMC or Social Club know.

Date of Next Meeting: Tuesday 13 December 2017 at 7.00 pm. All residents are invited to attend – wine and mince pies will be served from 6.45 pm onwards!

Councillor MaryAnn Williams
