ABOUT ME

After 34 years working for the Inland Revenue in many differing roles, I was very fortunate to be granted an early retirement package at the age of 50.

My wife and I selected Nocton for our retirement, as it provided wonderful countryside on the doorstep... it was also blessed with dark night skies and peace and quiet. The picturesque limestone cottage with a pantile roof, in what used to be an Estate village with an interesting history, was just the place we had been looking for.

Over the years, my work took me to many different parts of the UK - most of it spent as a training professional, writing and delivering events on management/personal development and departmental change, latterly developing collaborative e-learning.

As an Inspector of Taxes, I had previously been employed on investigation and intelligence work enquiring into business accounts. My final role though was managing the administration team of the National Training College.

In my spare time, I have served with the 4th Volunteer Battalion Queen's Lancashire Regiment (TA) located in Ashton-u-Lyne. Shortly after moving to Lincoln in 1993, I volunteered to become a Sergeant Instructor with Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force, after which I was appointed a Queen's Commission. I was Detachment Commander at Metheringham and latterly Cherry Willingham, before resigning at the end of the 1990's.

I have retained my Fellowship of the Institute of Leadership and Management.

My interests today are varied, ranging from gardening through to computers. I enjoy walking our two Jack Russells through the local countryside with my wife... and although I am not far off receiving an old age pension, I still enjoy my sport of running.  I now only compete occasionally, but am often to be found jogging along the many varied lanes and byways of our village.
