Gilbert Insall

Lincolnshire was central to the Great War effort 100 years ago

'Well over 100 Victoria Crosses had been awarded up to December 1915, the last one of the year being awarded to Second Lieutenant Gilbert Insall, who was a pilot in the RFC serving with 11 Squadron.'
