Nocton Cricket Club - match report

Rustons CC v Nocton CC, July 17th - League Match - Nocton won by 5 wickets

Nocton again took a full team of 11 players to Rustons on Sunday July 17th. The home team won the toss and chose to bat but struggled from the start against a varied Nocton attack of 7 bowlers. Only Robert Spaight offered any real resistance scoring more than half his team’s total. His 28 could not be matched by anyone else – none of the other batters made double figures. Rustons were all out for just 55 in the 24th over.

Nocton needed only 11 overs to reach their target but lost 5 wickets in the process. Dylan Garfoot (21) and Kyle Thompson (13) made their runs quickly and kept the score board ticking over. Rustons’ Stuart Silk was the most effective bowler with 3 for 19 off his six overs.

I was unable to get to the match but for those who enjoy looking at the pictures I have included some from the previous match against Rustons; you will not be slow to realise that the background to the photos is Nocton!

Report courtesy of Jonathan Sides

Plate 1 - Dylan getting on with the business of
 chasing down a small target

Plate 2 - Dylan attacking again. He can defend as
well – but not that often!

Plate 3 - Kyle Thompson hitting hard and straight on the way
to a brisk 13 that took Nocton to within 10 runs of the target.
