Appointment of Parish Clerk

Salary: £4752 per annum (£11.00 an hour – 36 hours per calendar month)

The Clerk to Nocton Parish Council has recently announced his decision to retire.  The Council is, therefore, looking to appoint a successor to this extremely important post, who will be able to take up their duties when the current Clerk leaves at the end of March, 2017.

If you would like to help make a positive difference to community life in Nocton and to support the Parish Council in its ambitious improvement programme for the village, then this will an ideal opportunity for you.

To be considered for the post, you will need to have:
  • Excellent numerical, literacy skills and to be fully conversant in all aspects of IT, including word processing, spreadsheets, email and the use of websites.
  • A wide experience of attending and speaking at meetings, preparing agendas and reports, writing minutes and preparing letters.
  • Experience of managing budgets, including the keeping of accounts and payment of invoices.
  • A good knowledge of, and interest in, current local government issues and affairs, particularly as they affect parish councils and local communities.
  • Ability to work with the minimum of supervision.

Experience of working in a local government and/or parish council environment would be a particular advantage, as would some experience in supervising the work of others.

Possession of the Certificate in Local Council Administration (or equivalent) would be an advantage.
